Within the Swedish Coast Guard (SCG), the technical department has the largest volume of purchasing, mainly in the form of vessels, boats and vehicles, but also extensively in the area of special equipment for environmental protection and IT support systems.

The SCG makes purchase in accordance with the Public Purchasing Act (SFS 2007:1091), which means that purchasing procedures are based on the principles of EG-laws concerning

  • no discrimination on the basis of nationality
  • equal treatment of all suppliers
  • transparency and openness in all purchases
  • proportionality in the requirements specified in purchasing contracts
  • mutual recognition
