Information in view of coronavirus 2019-nCoV

The Swedish Coast Guard is the national point of contact for shipping and is responsible for accepting and reviewing advance notifications for border control and maritime security. In view of the spread of the new coronavirus 2019-nCoV, the obligations of captains to report any suspected infection aboard their ships are emphasised.
Before a ship calls at its first Swedish port, or at the latest on arrival at the port, the captain of the ship must submit information to the Swedish Customs Service or the Swedish Coast Guard concerning health aboard the ship if
1. the captain has reason to believe that pathogens or other agents that may constitute an international threat to public health are aboard,
2. the ship has come from a port in an area that has been declared to have been affected by an international threat to public health and the ship arrives within the incubation period for an infectious disease, or
3. there is a person aboard the ship who has been in an area that has been declared to have been affected by an international threat to public health during such a period that the incubation period for an infectious disease has not expired at the time of the ship’s arrival at the port.
