Operational Tactical Centre (OTC)

The 2022 Schengen Evaluation identified the need for improved national and operational situational awareness, prompting the Operational Tactical Centre (OTC) project. This initiative builds on best practices and addresses both Schengen recommendations and EBCG Regulation requirements for the Coast Guard.

The OTC project enhances operational coordination and effectiveness by providing a situational picture, also accessible to other authorities in part. It directly responds to needs highlighted in the 2022 Schengen Evaluation and the EUROSUR II project.

Funded by the Swedish Police Authority and the Internal Security Fund (ISF) since autumn 2024, the OTC project supports EU security objectives, including countering terrorism, serious crime, and cyber threats, in line with the EU Security Union Strategy.

The project has already shown operational benefits for the Coast Guard and will run until December 2027.
