Caffa till ankars.
Caffa is still anchored outside Trelleborg, at the south coast of Sweden. The Swedish Coast Guard crew on KBV 034 is available to act on the prosecutor's directives in the ongoing preliminary investigation.
Caffa is subject to a so-called international ban on use, decided by the Swedish Transport Agency. A ban on use means that the vessel may not be used or leave port or anchorage until the identified deficiencies have been addressed and the Swedish Transport Agency has verified that the vessel meets applicable safety requirements.
The preliminary investigation is led by a prosecutor. The Coast Guard is taking investigative measures in accordance with the directive, the prosecutor announces. What measures may be taken, and if so when, are decided by the prosecutor.
Clarification on Caffa's cargo
The Coast Guard has stated that Caffa was carrying grain at the time of the intervention. It is correct that the vessel had previously carried a cargo load of grain, but was now traveling unloaded.
