Project Frontex operations
The Swedish Coast Guard has participated in FRONTEX operations since 2009, with aircraft and ships. The participation has been formalized by Regulation EU 2019/1896 on the development of the European Border and Coast Guard (EBCG) function.
The "Frontex Operations" project is a continuation of the "Operational costs FRONTEX" project; it is expected to contribute to meeting objective 1 of the national program—namely, achieving European integrated border management.
The project is expected to yield results comparable to those of the previous project, such as fostering a more efficient organization before, during, and after participation in operations, with activities guided by long-term operational planning. This will benefit European border management and Sweden’s role in this cooperation.
