Rescue service

The Coast Guard saves lives, protects the environment and minimises damage in the event of accidents at sea. We are responsible for environmental rescue operations and take part in maritime rescue and other rescue operations using vessels and aircraft, in collaboration with other authorities.

Pollution response

The Swedish Coast Guard has an important role in protecting the marine and coastal environment from spills of oil and other harmful substances. Through surveillance, preparedness and environmental rescue operations, we work to detect spills quickly, limit them and reduce their impact on the environment.

Maritime search and rescue

When an accident happens at sea, the first priority of the Coast Guard is always to save human lives. We are on high alert around the clock so that we can respond quickly to maritime search and rescue operations along the coast of Sweden and on its largest lakes.
