For increased safety

Our goal is to reduce accidents and increase safety at sea.

The Coast Guard use monitoring, control and law enforcement to enforce that maritime traffic are followed.

About the Swedish Coast Guard

Operation Poseidon 2 June 2016 kl 11:19

KBV 477 och KBV 476

Frontex The Swedish Coast Guard has been part of operation Poseidon, led by Frontex. The operation was replaced by Poseidon Rapid Intervention in 2016. A coastal patrol boat, KBV 477, has been deployed to the island of Lesvos since October 2015. An additional coastal patrol boat, KBV 476, was added to the operation on 1 April 2016.

About the Swedish Coast Guard

The Swedish Coast Guard supervises, rescues and provides assistance at sea, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year along the entire Swedish coastline. It is a civilian government agency under the authority of the Ministry of Justice. The overall aims of the Coast Guard are decided by the Swedish Riksdag while the government makes decisions on more detailed aspects.
