In the survey, the Swedish Coast Guard has a reputation index of 73, which is a new record high for government agencies. The average reputation index for the agencies in the survey is 40.

– The Coast Guard operates in an increasingly complex world. There are growing environmental risks, cyber threats and various security challenges. These are among the reasons why we have carried out several important operations against vessels in the Baltic Sea this spring. It is therefore especially gratifying that our reputation among the public remains high and has even improved. It is a sign that the Coast Guard's important work is visible and appreciated, says Director-General Lena Lindgren Schelin.

In recent years, the Coast Guard's mission has developed in step with a changing security situation. Expanded maritime surveillance contributes greatly to total defence, international cooperation, Sweden's membership of NATO and an increased focus on combating organised crime at sea. This places new demands on the agency's operations. Despite this, its reputation has been stable at a high level for several years.

Verian's reputation survey is based on more than 11,000 interviews with randomly selected people. The respondents assess the agencies' reputation, trust, quality and success, and their personal impression of the agency's work, among other things.

– The reputation of government agencies is a cornerstone of our democracy. That the public has strong confidence in the Coast Guard is as important as it is an honour. Strong confidence in government agencies is good for Sweden, and we should be proud that we contribute to it, says Lena Lindgren Schelin.
