Executive management
The Swedish Coast Guard is led by a Director General, who has overall responsibility for the agency's activities. Together with the Deputy Director General and the management group, the executive management is responsible for governing, following up and developing the activities in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.
The Director General is accountable to the Government for the agency's activities and must ensure:
- that the agency's activities are carried out efficiently and in accordance with applicable law and the obligations that follow from Sweden's membership of the European Union
- that the activities are reported in a reliable and accurate way and
- that the agency manages state funds responsibly.
The Director General also has overall operational responsibility for the Coast Guard's activities, and therefore for the agency's vessel operations and aviation activities. The Deputy Director General acts in the Director General's place when the Director General is not on duty, or to the extent that the Director General decides.
Management group
The management group is led by the Director General. The other members are the Deputy Director General and the Heads of Department. The group deals with matters of principle and strategy concerning the governance, follow-up and development of the agency's activities. This is done to ensure efficient operations that comply with applicable laws and regulations.
