The alarm was raised shortly after 22:00 on Tuesday evening. At that time, KBV 032, with a crew of eight, was at Älgön, close to the scene of the accident. The coast guard officers set out immediately with two rigid inflatable boats and were the first rescue unit on scene. When they arrived, a man and a child had just been lifted out of the water by private individuals who had heard cries for help, raised the alarm and come to assist.

The injured were transferred to one of the Coast Guard's rigid inflatable boats for fast transport to Rörtången, where an ambulance was waiting. The other rigid inflatable boat stayed behind and searched for the two people who were still missing.

The commanding officer on board KBV 032 was appointed On Scene Coordinator by the rescue leader of the Swedish Maritime Administration. Together with the chief engineer, the commanding officer organised and coordinated about ten seagoing resources, including the Coast Guard's own two rigid inflatable boats, in close cooperation with the Swedish Maritime Administration and the Swedish Sea Rescue Society (Sjöräddningssällskapet).

During the evening, a preliminary investigation led by the Swedish Police Authority was opened. At 02:30, coast guard officers and police officers from Gothenburg were taken out by a pilot boat to board the vessel suspected of being involved in the accident. A number of investigative measures were carried out. They left the vessel several hours later, at about the same time as the search resumed on Wednesday morning.

The Coast Guard aircraft then took part in searching an assigned area from the air, but made no findings during the morning. KBV 032 remained at Älgön and became a base for the Swedish Police Authority's technicians, who carried out a number of investigative measures with support from the Coast Guard.

On Wednesday afternoon, the wreck of the leisure boat was located. Later, divers from the rescue service found the missing woman. She was brought out of the water with help from the Coast Guard and the Marine Police (Sjöpolisen).

On Thursday, KBV 032 was relieved by KBV 001 Poseidon, which had arrived at Älgön to continue the search. During the evening, the missing child was found by the Coast Guard's divers.

KBV 001 Poseidon and its crew remain at the site on Friday and continue to assist the police in their investigation.

The Swedish Accident Investigation Authority (Statens haverikommission) is also investigating the accident. The Coast Guard assists in the investigation as needed.

Questions about the accident are referred to the Swedish Police Authority, the Swedish Prosecution Authority (Åklagarmyndigheten) and the Swedish Accident Investigation Authority. \u00A0
