When support is missing, this can be a heavy and sometimes invisible burden for both the employee and their family members.

Family members may carry worry, responsibility and the practical consequences of the work, without always having access to support or a setting where their situation is understood. The non-profit association Invidzonen offers structured support to family members through IZforum.org. This can strengthen security for the family members, for the Coast Guard's employees and for the organisation as a whole.

Invidzonen has long experience of supporting family members and works under a duty of confidentiality. There are no limits on who counts as a family member. Anyone who feels like a family member is welcome to use the support.

The platform is open to everyone, regardless of agency or organisation. It offers an anonymous and safe environment where users can meet others in similar situations.

On IZforum.org, you can:

  • Talk privately with another person via chat
  • Write in the forum
  • Read articles to learn from the experience and knowledge of others
  • Share experiences with other family members
  • Stay in contact with a mentor
  • Staff can also get support with questions about their family members

Other important information for family members: compensation under TGL-S, the government group life insurance

All employees of the Swedish Coast Guard are covered by the agreement on government group life insurance (Tjänstegrupplivförsäkring, TGL-S). The insurance protects a surviving spouse or partner and children. As a general rule, the insurance also applies during holiday, sickness or other leave of absence. The manager with personnel responsibility must help when family members or the estate of the deceased apply for compensation under TGL-S.

If you want someone other than your spouse or partner, children or estate to be the beneficiary, you can change this at any time with the National Government Employee Pensions Board. Click the link to read more about the group life insurance. Read more about the group life insurance here.
